Oral cancer is most survivable when caught early — 5-year survival exceeds 80% when detected at stage I, and drops sharply from there.
At every routine visit, your dentist palpates the lymph nodes, floor of mouth, and tongue, and visually examines all soft tissue. Anything unusual gets documented and re-checked or biopsied.
